Botox
Overactivity of facial mimic muscles leads to
occurrence of wrinkles, i.e. the so-called frown lines (vertical wrinkles
between the eyebrows), crow's feet (fine wrinkles around the eyes) and
forehead wrinkles. An injection of botulinum toxin exactly in these
places blocks the release of neurotransmitter which initiates muscle
contraction and temporarily inactivates the muscles concerned.
Results
It is virtually impossible to frown in the Botox-treated
areas. The wrinkles smooth out or disappear completely and your face
looks more relaxed and friendly. The first effects get visible after
48 to 72 hours. The maximum effect becomes obvious after 1 to 2 weeks.
Your facial expression becomes more relaxed but is still very natural.
This effect lasts for 4 to 6 months. As soon as the effect weakens,
the treatment can be repeated. Botox is ideally combined with other
gentle wrinkle treatments as e.g. an injection of Restylan?® under
the wrinkle or mesotherapy.
